The second season of ‘Serial’ is here
In a note posted on the show’s website on Thursday, host Sarah Koenig wrote, “Our first season was about a murder case few people had heard about”.
The theme song, which was heavily parodied, has also been changed. He was released five years later in a controversial prisoner swap that involved the trade of five former high-ranking members of the Taliban government from the USA detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
“Suddenly, it really starts to sink in that I really did something bad”, he continued. Zero Dark Thirty screenwriter Mark Boal spoke to Bergdahl for research on another project, and those interviews are included in the new season. “Or, not bad, but I really did something serious”.
As Bergdahl, 29, faces a court-martial and even a life sentence in prison for leaving his base, House Republicans are claiming in a new report that the Obama administration misled Congress about the effort to release the five Gitmo detainees.
The army is now holding preliminary hearings in the case to decide whether Bergdahl will receive a court-martial.
“I’m going, ‘Good grief, I’m in over my head, ‘ ” Bergdahl said.
The first series of Serial focussed on the murder of Baltimore schoolgirl Hae Min Lee and the conviction of her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed.
The first season of the podcast became a viral hit racking up over 68m downloads and picked up a Peabody Award for its investigative reporting on the case back in April of this year becoming the first podcast in history to do so.
