Season 2 of Serial is out now
Bergdahl was a Taliban prisoner for more than four years before being released in exchange for the release of five Taliban detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay.
Episodes of the first season of “Serial” have been downloaded over 100 million times.
While the first season got listeners hooked by unearthing the minutiae of a little-known murder case, this time it’s all about the much more high-profile case of Sergeant Robert Bowdrie “Bowe” Bergdahl.
The This American Life spin-off has returned with the story of former POW and accused deserter Sgt Bowe Bergdahl, with reporter Sarah Koenig once again investigating the story and poring over every detail in an effort to come to some conclusion. More specifically, many people are curious as to why he left his post the day the Taliban took him as their prisoner.
On Serial’s website, the show’s creators point out how quiet Bergdahl has been throughout the furor since his return to the U.S. The podcast is released in “chapters”, and follows Koenig’s journey to uncover the truth behind the story. Bergdahl is awaiting word on whether he’ll face a court martial.
But unlike its inaugural season, Serial Season Two is taking a case which hasn’t gone to trial yet. Download the episode on Serial’s official page here.
Serial and its production are also being adapted for television, with the directors of The LEGO MOVIE, Chris Miller and Phil Lord set to serialise how Serial’s journalists became world famous for their podcast.
