Kyle Busch races to 3rd win of year, closer to Chase
This is something I’m not sure we ever would have expected. Whatever turns out to be the best direction, hopefully they go all the way down that path and let it rip..
Joplin’s Jamie McMurray finished 26th, a lap down, but still has more championship points than any other driver without a win this year and is still in the hunt to be one of the sixteen drivers who will enter the ten-race Chase for the Championship. “They deserve all this”.
Both Harvick and Johnson continued their form through the first half of this season, with Harvick capping a stretch of eight straight Top-2 finishes by finishing second at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, in late March.
At New Hampshire, Busch led a total of 96 laps, including the final 49.
I do agree with Tony Stewart that someones got to help these race teams with these costs of all these different packages, Busch said. “They were telling me the 38 (David Gilliland) was in the lucky dog spot and once I got there, I was like ‘OK, what else do I have to do to get back on the lead lap.’ I figured it was the four (Harvick) still and it was”. I’m never like the 2, the 4, the 18, the 11.
Keselowski bagged the second spot after he led for 100 laps and was then followed by Harvick.
“Even while Kyle was gone, I feel like we’ve shown that we have speed and we have solid cars”, he said. “Just really proud of my guys for the whole weekend”. Things are working in our favor right now and we are doing the right things at the right time. “Had a really good auto during the race”. Busch pulled away from the field following the last restart with 44 laps to go, but Brad Keselowski mounted a charge in the closing laps. While completing a pass, he made contact with Ryan Reed’s machine, which caused Rhodes’ right-front tire to lose air pressure. Hamlin led 145 of the 200 laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and clearly had the car to beat. “It’s a joy to drive cars that fast”. Busch assumed the lead when his main rivals pitted under the yellow flag.
Kyle Busch had a spring worth forgetting, but is now enjoying a summer to remember.
“We didn’t have the full tire that we wanted, we didn’t have the full package and it was better”, Daytona 500 champion Joey Logano said. “Our auto was a close third, but on the long runs Our frontend would die and we just couldn’t turn”. “Had a little engine issue the whole race that was hurting us down the straightaway real bad”.
Carl Edwards is not one of those 14 winners in Sunday’s race, but he will have the best seat in the house when it starts, leading the field to green from the pole.
The shackles NASCAR put on Busch to make the Chase-win a race, finish in the top 30-seemed too much to overcome.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Indianapolis next weekend for the Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at The Brickyard on July 26.
Last Saturday night, Kyle Busch claimed his second win of the season with a dominating performance at Kentucky Speedway. He sees the same winning attitude now in Busch, who he teamed with Crew Chief Adam Stevens in the Sprint Cup for the first time this year.
Reported by oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Brad Keselowski is the current favorite to win this race, as he has 4/1 odds.
