Chis Davis has 7-year offer worth about $150M from Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles reportedly have offered free agent Chris Davis a seven-year deal for over $150 million to try and convince the slugger to re-sign with the team. So, the $150 million offer to Davis is not something that can sit around waiting for him to accept all winter, because that money is either going to him or it’s going toward solving their other problems. He led the league in home runs previous year with 47 and was second in the American League with 117 RBI, behind only the A.L. MVP Josh Donaldson.
Lawrie hit. 260 with career highs of 16 homers and 60 runs batted in in his lone season for the A’s, also staying off the disabled list for the first time in five major-league seasons. That’s understandable, as Davis might be able to make more elsewhere, but the Orioles can’t let the likes of Justin Upton slip away while they wait for Davis to respond to the best offer they can probably produce. And how much does Davis truly want to remain in Baltimore? According to Duquette, the Orioles are looking to improve their 2016 lineup and Davis would play a huge part in that lineup if he accepts Baltimore’s offer. Would former Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Pedro Alvarez be a solid fit? Ben Zobrist remains the only big-name position player to sign a contract, agreeing to a four-year, $56 million deal with the Cubs.
“It’s an exciting opportunity, obviously, with the success the Mets have had this past year”, Walker said. “It’s definitely been a whirlwind day and something my wife Niki, who also is from the same area that I’m from in Pittsburgh, and I are dealing with – all the emotions that are coming with what’s going on with new lives that we’re about to embark on”.
The White Sox were keen on closing their revolving door at third base, which has been spinning ever since Joe Crede left town following the 2008 season.
“There’s a lot of rumors out there, lot of interest”, Orioles general manager Dan Duquette said Thursday.
