Murray says he loves playing for Eagles
McCoy, who is the Eagles’ all-time leading rusher, was traded to Buffalo in March for linebacker Kiko Alonso and hasn’t been shy about expressing his thoughts on Kelly, his time in Philadelphia and the Eagles.
“I think coming to a place that wanted me and appreciated me, that always counts, ” McCoy said.
“I’m done with all this, man”, Edwards said. I felt bad that I didn’t get a chance to talk to him.
The Eagles kept their playoff hopes alive in the most unexpected of venues this past Sunday, upsetting the New England Patriots in Foxborough by way of a 35-28 win. If Murray happened to gain 1,450 yards or more in the first four seasons of the deal he would earn the full $2 million in incentives.
Kelly isn’t one to feign emotion. Is it disrespectful to the game of football?
But in discussing the way the McCoy trade went down, there was a definite sense of regret in voice and his expressions.
Chip Kelly doesn’t regret the LeSean McCoy trade. “I tried to call him after (the trade)”. He knows that. He knows me, he knows how I am. “So there were no phone calls to be made”, Kelly said. Complete shock. McCoy has only known the state of Pennsylvania, from high school to college to the pros. Now, he sees this all as the best thing that could’ve happened in his career. This came after a separate interview, where McCoy said that “Chip ain’t shaking [profanity]” in reference to the same statement from Kelly, which was made Wednesday with Buffalo-area media. Everyone who’s in town, we talk to them individually, here in our office … The biggest thing for me is I want to contribute to this team and I feel like I can be a big piece of that.
According to ESPN, Kelly told reporters that he’d like to get a handshake from McCoy on Sunday. The Cowboys still aren’t willing to spend that kind of money on Murray, which means a trade would be highly unlikely. He just wishes the process of informing had been handled better.
But Kelly did not want to blame the system, instead blaming the performance of the players within it for Murray’s struggles this year.
Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray hasn’t had the workload of a feature back in 2015, but it hasn’t impacted his desire to remain with the team. “Knowing how I am I would’ve been going insane, but seeing them go through it and me being the last person, I’ve got to be a professional”.
Not that Kelly’s mea culpa will lighten McCoy’s anger.
“I’d love to shake LeSean’s hand”.
Kelly took a diplomatic approach toward McCoy during a conference call with Buffalo-area reporters.
Honestly, I don’t expect either to search the other out on Sunday, so it’s a moot point. He planned to do that with McCoy when the league approved the trade the next morning.
“It’s a good problem to have when you have some backs that when you used all three of them (Murray, Matthews and Sproles), all three of them are productive for you, ‘Kelly said”.
Well, it’s good that we cleared that up. “Why do you want me to shake that guy’s hand?” He texted me when he was done. It wasn’t handled that way with LeSean. We’ll see. It’s not like I asked to leave or anything.
