Uninstalling app does not stop Google Photos from uploading
With Google+ Photos officially being laid to rest, maybe it’s finally time for the features that people use frequently from Google+ Photos and Picasa Web Albums to be merged into Google Photos. Thankfully, the switch to Google Photos will be seamless.
“Plus, you can bring moments to life and share anywhere with anyone”, said Google in a blog post. Also, using the new app, you’ll be able to backup an unlimited amount of photos in Google’s “high quality” mode, as well as gain access to new tools like their (mostly) useful new search. As you should have heard or seen by now, Google+ Photos will be replaced by Google Photos which was announced back in May.
For those who don’t know, Google unveiled back in late May at its I/O conference a standalone cloud photo and video storage app simply dubbed Google Photos.
Come August 1st, Google+ Photos for Android will be shut down, with the web and iOS apps following soon after. Alas, there are a few tricks from Google+ Photos that haven’t made it into the non-plus Google Photos app yet – things like pushing pictures to Chromecast, or support for PhotoSphere hosting.
Of course, even if you don’t switch over to Google Photos, all of your photos from Google+ Photos will live on the background until you decide to make the switch. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
