Biggest Takeaways from Green Bay Packers’ Week 13 Win
In case you missed it, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Detroit Lions 27-23 on what was a ridiculous finish to Thursday Night Football.
The Detroit Lions are still stinging from a phantom face mask penalty against Aaron Rodgers that led to the Green Bay Packers hitting a 61-yard Hail Mary pass, but one high-ranking league official is standing behind the call. The play itself is normally viewed as a fluke, with the name Hail Mary it sounds as though divine intervention is necessary for a walk off win.
Everything clicked for this team on that game winning play Thursday night.
“It was a phenomenal play”, said Coach McCarthy.
McCarthy rewarded his resilient team by giving them the entire weekend off.
At the snap the three receivers to the right run straight go routes towards the end zone. Bynes followed Adams to the end zone, leaving Richard Rodgers alone. They had players in the middle of the field doing nothing.
“This one hurts; like, this is angry”, defensive end Darryl Tapp said.
When Rodgers set himself and threw toward the end zone, two Detroit players were near opposite sidelines around their own 40-yard line.
“I’m sure there’s some people out there who would think it’s just a Hail Mary, but the Doug Flutie play was just a Hail Mary play, too”. They appeared to be expecting a multi-lateral play, even though a Hail Mary, by all accounts, would be more risky.
But because he’s a dad, he said he prefers the one his namesake son made last night. That was one where you’re kind of looking for more of that pass back and forth kind of thing because of the range. Rodgers rolled to his right and launched the ball 65 yards down the field.
“No one was around him”.
As the ball is in the air, the “rebound” crowd begins to form.
“(Tight end Richard Rodgers) chose to jump.
The unpredictable nature of Lacy’s 2015 season makes it hard to project how far the Packers can go in the playoffs. But he can’t bring it every week anymore – just three catches for 44 yards against Green Bay – and Ansah is.
It’s been long needed for the Packers.
The Lions, fearing the Packers (8-4) would start lateraling and force Detroit to make a tackle, did not put 6-foot-5 Calvin Johnson in the game for defensive purposes. However, it’s been revealed this season that Lacy also has several layers of reasons for struggling. Of the Lions’ defenders that were in the vicinity, only two were actually close enough to attempt to challenge him from behind. After blowing a 24-point lead to the Buffalo Bills in London, the Jaguars were driving for what would be the go-ahead score when the Bills were called for a phantom pass interference penalty, with replays showing that cornerback Nickel Robey never made contact with the Jaguars player.
