Google Wallet will now let you send money via SMS
“We’re thrilled with the great feedback we’ve received on the new Google Wallet app, and we’re working hard to make the experience even better”, Google said. This generates a text message to Paul, telling him that he has been sent the gift of money. You can download the new version of the app from Google Play and Apple’s App Store (it’s rolling out “in the next few days”, so don’t fret if you don’t see it yet). By opening that secure link, they can quickly enter their debit card info to claim the money, which should then arrive “within minutes”. The expansion of the app’s features to also include phone numbers as a possible channel increases the options for both sender and recipient.

Google Wallet should not be confused with the newly launched Android Pay.
Previously, you would use an email address to send money to someone using Google Wallet, but sometimes all that you have is a person’s phone number.
