Google Wallet will now let you send money via SMS

You can download the new version of the app from Google Play and Apple’s App Store (it’s rolling out “in the next few days”, so don’t fret if you don’t see it yet). By opening that secure link, they can quickly enter their debit card info to claim the money, which should then arrive “within minutes”. The expansion of the app’s features to also include phone numbers as a possible channel increases the options for both sender and recipient.

Previously, you would use an email address to send money to someone using Google Wallet, but sometimes all that you have is a person’s phone number.
