Rudolph Giuliani Refuses to Corroborate Donald Trump’s 9/11 Accounts
A week of raging debate over Syrian refugees and Islamic State violence has scattered misinformation everywhere.
US Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has demanded CNN pay him $5 million to participate in the next GOP debate.
Kovaleski wrote a story for the Washington Post a week after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks that referred to allegations of “tailgate-style parties on rooftops” in New Jersey after the World Trade Center towers fell. Trump’s threat came amid a rant about CNN’s coverage of his campaign, which he says has been unfair and doesn’t fully capture the strength of the political movement he has sparked.
Neither outlet could find any specific evidence to corroborate Trump’s allegation, though there were a handful of reports of rumors that there were celebrations in New Jersey, along with images of Palestinians celebrating overseas. Trump flew to Georgia after meeting with dozens of black pastors in his Manhattan offices, & he stated in that the meeting went thoroughly.
“Well I think what he’s doing is exaggerating”, Rudy said, with a hint of a chuckle.
“Were people celebrating on 9/11?”
Trump’s campaign had announced an endorsement was forthcoming from the black ministers but that was changed after some of them clarified they planned to listen to the GOP candidate – but not endorse him. This would be a fine strategy for a candidate seeking to boost his falling approval rating after his unsavory treatment of a Black Lives Matter protester, who was “roughed up” by Trump supporters at an Alabama rally. “And the kids in the housing development came in and beat them up”. “I saw it and so many people saw it …”
Trump is trying to bolster his support among non-whites, a growing electoral force that helped propel President Barack Obama’s two victories.
“If he’s not willing to apologize…he’s going to lose a lot of the minority voters”, Bishop Victor Couzens, who urged Trump to repent his sins, told ThinkProgress.
Brown, who was not invited to the meeting, said he was “astonished” that black pastors would even meet with Trump, let alone consider an endorsement.
“I also remember there was video on television. I don’t want to say he’s not telling the truth about it”.
