Houston oil company gives each employee $100K holiday bonus
Hilcorp, a Houston based company, has given each one of their 1,381 employees a US$100,000 (AU$137,000) bonus as a thank you for an excellent year reported Fox 26.
Thompson told the news station that in 2010, all employees were given the option of a $50,000 auto or $35,000 in cash for meeting a 5 year goal.
That’s the offer that every single employee at Hilcorp Energy Co. – a privately held Houston-based oil and gas exploration and production company – received this year for meeting the company’s five-year goals, according to Fortune magazine. A small tropical island?
Hilcorp has offices and field locations in Texas and Alaska.
Thompson told FOX 26 News that Hilcorp founder, chairman and CEO Jeff Hilldebrand stands by every promise he makes to his workers if they reach the company’s goals. Many companies continue to struggle following the economic downfall and other variables may come in play when bonuses are not given to employees.
Amanda Thompson, a receptionist who has been working for Hilcorp for 10 years, says that the bonus is a blessing and a motivator for everyone. Beyond bonuses, which average 33 per cent of pay, surveyed staff also lauded the company’s emphasis on staff empowerment and responsibility.
