Bowles Optimistic Of A Revis Return
The Jets got cornerback Darrelle Revis back on the practice field on Thursday for the first time since he suffered a concussion in Week 11 and was listed as a limited participant by the team.
“I’ll be ready to go Sunday”.
Revis returned to the practice field on Thursday, though he did not face any contact.
Concussions have become a hot-button issue with the National Football League following the discovery of the long-term effects they can have on players. The Jets hope that will happen on Friday.
“The last couple of weeks have just been (about) following what the training staff has been telling me to do, and just trying to get through the concussion, ” he said.
“I have to see a little more [Friday], and then we’ll talk about it”, Bowles said. “When I signed on that dotted line I knew I was going to be here for a long time and I’m committed to win a lot of games here”.
Revis still needed to pass two more tests in the protocol before he can be cleared.
“It’s the same routine, once you have one you, you go through the same protocol. You can’t put a time frame on it. The only thing you can do is make sure the brain calms down and you’ve got to get rest, and that’s what I’ve been doing throughout this whole situation”.
Parcells, who gave Bowles his first coaching job back in 2000 with the Jets, texts Bowles after every game. “The biggest thing he said in the middle of the season when we lost four-out-of-five was ‘Nobody remembers midseason losses, it’s how you finish.’ That one stuck out”.
“He got beat against Hopkins, but he was playing pretty well before that, ” Bowles said.
Buster Skrine started in Revis’ place against the Giants after backup Marcus Williams was also scratched with a sprained knee. Linebacker Calvin Pace (abdomen) is probable.
