Steven Spielberg Movie Gets a First Trailer
Yes, “The BFG” is a children’s book, but as with true Roald Dahl fashion, the story evokes a certain darkness and macabre aspect, and this truly shows in the trailer that has attracted over 3 million views since its release.
Sophie is talking about the witching hour and she says that for her, the witching hour starts at three in the morning when only she is left awake while the whole world sleeps.
Dahl’s towering antihero, the Big Friendly Giant, has been brought to life by Disney, American directing legend Stephen Spielberg and screenwriter Melissa Mathison.
For those who never read books as a kid, The BFG tells the story of a young girl and a giant, known as The BFG, or Big Friendly Giant, who introduces her to the wonders, and perils of Giant Country.
When Sophie first steps foot on Giant Country, she gets scared, especially after seeing the giant who stole her from her home at the orphanage.
Some parents may want to screen the trailer before showing it to young, impressionable children. “Never look behind the curtain”, she narrates, while simultaneously flouting her own warnings and heading straight to investigate. But I am definitely interested.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 1, 2016, 27 years after The BFG first hit screens in an animated television movie in 1989.
