Gainesville Native Deshaun Watson is Heisman Finalist

Among the snubbed players who will not be making the trip to Manhattan are Navy QB Keenan Reynolds, Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman, Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott, and LSU running back Leonard Fournette.

One day after finding out he would not be invited to New York City for the Heisman Trophy presentation – the three finalists are Alabama running back Derrick Henry, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson – Cook on Tuesday was left off of one of the first All-America teams to be released. He broke Barry Sanders’ record for most all-purpose yards in a season this year, according to USA Today.

“It feels very real”, McCaffrey said.

“Now I know what it takes”, McCaffrey said about becoming a finalist, “following with anything less than that is unacceptable for me”. “So to have my name mentioned even in the same category as him is definitely an honor”.

Henry finished the season with nine 100-yard games, including four 200-yard performances.

He capped his Heisman campaign with a school-record 461 all-purpose yards against USC in the Pac-12 title game, running and passing for a touchdown and receiving a pass for another score.

“This is recognition for a great performance on the field and for the hard work he has put in over the past year after suffering a torn ACL”, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said.

One last question: Does he know to emulate the figure on the bronze statue? There is nobody in the nation doing what he’s doing. “Right now, we’re up here and I’m just at the award ceremony, but if I win or lose I’m getting right back to my teammates regardless of the situation and focusing on the game”. The only case is doing so on the strength of defenses in the SEC, but providing evidence for said strength could prove specious considering the dearth of quality quarterback play across the conference.

Shaw didn’t get any disagreement from the opposing team.

“I mean, what doesn’t he do?” As the leader of the nation’s No. 1 squad, both in the polls and by the CFP committee’s standards, Watson would probably win the award in any other year and he’d be the first Tiger to do so.

According to Chase Goodbread of the official National Football League media site, McCaffrey has the best chances of winning the trophy for The Heisman this year.

Henry has been the best player in the SEC this year, and is the main reason Alabama now holds a 12-1 record. Watson also got the invitation to NY after leading the only undefeated team in major college football.

McCaffrey’s prospects would seem dim in the Northeast because of Stanford’s schedule: Seven games began at 10 p.m. or later in the Eastern Time Zone, which includes all or part of four voting regions.

“You could make the argument that this season was the best of any skill position player in the history of college football”, Shaw said.
