Police have said Woods, 26, was raising a knife at police when he was shot, but Woods’ family and attorney said police opened fire before he raised his hands.
Woods’ mother, Gwendolyn, cried at a news conference on Friday, saying of her son, “He was the best of me”. Those officers’ names will be released within 10 days of the fatal shooting.

Burris said Woods’ death is an “affront and insult to the African American community” in San Francisco and that everyone should know what happened to Woods in order for it not to happen again. At one point, an officer shifts position into Woods’ path as he continues to walk down the sidewalk. The stabbing victim has not been publicly identified or named.
Woods died shortly after at least five officers fired at him in the Bayview neighborhood about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
