Celtics next to take aim at streaking Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are going for their 28th straight regular-season win when they face the Boston Celtics on Friday night. When asked about Golden State’s title run, and the 23-0 record it will bring to the parquet on Friday, the players gave everything the Warriors have done its due respect, but were quick to note that they have been doing some nice things of late as well. Isaiah Thomas comes closest as he led Boson to a 105-100 win over the Chicago Bulls last Wednesday. The Pacers have a long way to go to achieve the precision of the Golden State Warriors, and possibly some personnel changes.
Naturally, there is more attention on the defending champs than on any other team – any team that doesn’t have Lebron James on it – so there is an adjustment period needed to get used to all the hoopla. They get you on back cuts because you’re anxious about the guards. “And that’s not talking bad, that’s just being honest”. I mean, for Curry to be shooting 46 percent from three is a joke for how tough some of his shots are, and just tells you how great of a shooter he is and how good he is with the ball, because his are all challenged. The Celtics are just trying to gauge what’s possible for them. “He can be the final factor on not playing, but he cannot be the final factor whether he is on the court tonight”.
Bottom line: The Celtics have the tools to upset the league’s super team, it’s just a matter of putting it all together.
Maybe it’s Kerr’s rotation usage (dutifully continued by interim coach Luke Walton in Kerr’s extended absence), or maybe it’s the sensory deprivation chambers in downtown San Francisco that the Warriors so love to frequent. “The way that they’ve started is incredible”. As it is, during the 23-game streak the Warriors have played only 11 against playoff teams and five games against teams who went beyond the first round.
They are now like a well-oiled machine and are immensely getting better with each passing game.
The Celtics can score the basketball and they shoot over 45 percent from the field. I will take the Warriors if Klay Thompson plays, but if he don’t I may lean towards the Celtics. It wasn’t just one thing, just a bunch of different things I don’t want to get into.
“All truly great shooters-Dale Ellis, Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Chris Mullin-we always believed that we were the best shooters in the world”, said Miller. “They’re in the same league as us”, said center Jared Sullinger. “If he feels good and the trainers say he’s good, then there’ll be a chance he will play”.
