Dubai: Retail giant dumps Donald Trump’s goods
The Lifestyle division of Dubai-based Landmark Group said Tuesday it would no longer sell home décor products carrying Trump’s name. “I was wrong about Donald Trump and I don’t mind admitting it”, the Dubai owner of hotels wrote in The National newspaper on November 25.

A major Middle Eastern retailer has pulled all Trump-branded homeware products after the GOP frontrunner called for Muslims to be barred from entering the United States.
Trump Tower, a 68-story, mixed-use building in midtown Manhattan, is the flagship property of the Trump Organization, the global real-estate company that Donald Trump leads as chairman and president.
“Lifestyle values and respects the sentiments of all its customers”, and because most of these customers are Muslims who have begun to dislike Trump and anything associated with him, the company made a decision to stop selling his products. An advertising billboard outside the AKOYA by DAMAC development had shown Trump in a red hat swinging a golf club against a backdrop of a lush green golf course.
The Landmark Group on Wednesday suspended sales of all Trump branded items for its Lifestyle outlets indefinitely.
Mr. Trump has attempted to make several investment opportunities in the Middle East, which his comments may now nullify. Al Habtoor expressed to the media that if Trump were to come to his office, he would not even allow him inside, he does not trust him.
However he told NBC News: “I’m sorry I ever supported [him]…”
Trump’s comments were created to capitalise on a shooting by a Muslim couple said to have become radicalised in San Bernardino, California, which killed 14 people. According to the New York Times and CBS, the last time Americans were as afraid of the likelihood of a terror attack as they are now was in the aftermath of 9/11. Trump says in a statement released by his campaign on Dec 7 that his proposal comes in response to the level of hatred among “large segments of the Muslim population” toward Americans.
