Netflix Scores Big Win With Golden Globes Nods
The nominations for the 73rd Golden Globe Awards were announced Thursday morning and the television categories were dominated by series from digital outlets Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, leaving traditional broadcasters and even cable programmers in the dust.
A Globes nomination can give a show, film or actor not only a bump in audience, but an edge in Hollywood’s crowded awards season.

Alejandro González Iñárritu, last year’s victor for Birdman, looks like a lock for a repeat nomination.
Generally speaking, the Golden Globes tends to be a preview for the Oscar race so it seems very likely that “Mad Max” will show up in one way or another.

The 2016 Golden Globe nominees were publicized Thursday via live-stream this morning by Chloe Grace Moretz, Dennis Quaid, America Ferrara and Angela Bassett, and included some surprises, as well as some stars getting passed over that had been expected to get a nomination.
Spielberg wasn’t the only big-name director left off the Globes’ list.
Mark Ruffalo’s nomination for “Infinitely Polar Bear” – a movie nearly no one saw – over “Spotlight” also befuddled.

“American Horror Story” has scored eight Golden Globe nominations till now, including Lady Gaga’s nomination.
