David Lee thinks Celtics can make it tough for Steph Curry
Stephen Curry and company will be ready to face the Celtics, but it won’t be an easy victory. Leading that charge has to be Boston’s 1-2 second-unit punch of Kelly Olynyk and ex-Warrior David Lee.
Just about two months into the season, defending champions, The Golden State Warriors seem to be on another level right now. Curry will play well, but Avery Bradley is a tough defender and may bother him a little bit. That was a full season’s worth of wins, and now we have that in the first month and a half. “They get paid on the first and 15th just like us”. Golden State has the flawless players for the ideal system to fit the game today.
The Warriors had too much firepower and poured in 44 first-quarter points to keep the winning streak alive. Curry can get his shot off at any time because he’s got one of the best handles in the league and gets freed up very effectively off picks from Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green.
“It’s fun to try to chase something like this. We’re going to prepare, scout and do everything we can to take away what we can from the opponent, but at the same time focus on what we do”.
The Golden State Warriors are without loss at 23-0, a record braking to start a season in National Basketball Association, but they also might play without the star shooter, Klay Thompson on Friday due to his sprained ankle.
“It’s not feeling great, but it’s not feeling bad”, Thompson told reporters after watching his teammates practice on Thursday.
“It’s one of the great, great things about this team is our guys are confident all the way down the line”, Walton said.
It’s uncertain whether Klay Thompson will play as the unbeaten Warriors attempt to reach another milestone Friday night against the Boston Celtics.
“There’s no doubt that when you get a chance to play at home against the best team in the league you’re excited about it”, Celtics coach Brad Stevens said ahead of the 7:30 p.m. tip. “They should have rested that fourth quarter, and it’s on us to hold down the fort”.
“He’s not afraid of the moment”, Walton said. Curry still can’t quite believe his team is undefeated, repeating after wins lately that its record doesn’t even sound right.
And yet, talk is mounting that if any team could put an end to the impressive streak, it’s the Celtics.
The setting for the Warriors on Friday is different from recent games.
This is the Big Three that not only speaks for what has to happen tonight, but in the grand scheme of things it has to be who they become down the road. I can only imagine this is what is like, to know that they were going to win it all no matter what. “They’re in the same league as us”, said center Jared Sullinger.
