Narendra Modi’s speed of implementing policies is like a bullet train, says
Abe arrived in Delhi on Friday evening for his annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which they are expected to sign a multi-billion deal for a bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

India Foreign secretary S. Jaishankar told reporters in Delhi that the pact over nuclear energy could ease the participation of companies like GE and Westinghouse, which have Japanese partners, in India.
“We have taken two more decisive steps in security co-operation that will deepen our defence relations and promote defence manufacturing in India”.
Expanding economic and strategic cooperation, Prime Minister Modi said: “India is a land of possibilities with excellent human resources and a technological base and Japan has been there at every turning point”. Mr. Modi was addressing business leaders of India and Japan with his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe.
Japan and India clinched a deal on peaceful use of civil nuclear power, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Saturday.
A railway official said a panel led by Modi’s adviser, Arvind Panagariya, had cited the accident-free record of the Japan’s high-speed trains in its recommendation.
The two countries are seeking to take advantage of that friendship, formed partly over their mutual desire to counter regional rival China’s growing influence, during Abe’s two-day visit. Citing examples of Indo-Japanese technical collaboration for environment-friendly development, he said the Metro rail network started in Delhi with Japan’s collaboration, and was rapidly expanding to other centres in India.
The two sides also inked agreements – one concerning the Transfer of Defence Equipment and Technology and another related to Security Measures for Protection of Classified Military Information.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Saturday described the agreements as a new era of cooperation between the two countries.
After the talks, Mr Abe will visit Varanasi and attend “Ganga Aarti” at famous Dasaswamedh Ghat. During the meeting, Abe welcomed resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue and her visit to Islamabad.
