Witness says police hogtied a man and placed him face down
Authorities identified the man as Troy Goode, 30, who after leaving the concert held at Snowden Grove Amphitheater in Southaven, Mississippi reportedly began acting erratically.
A man who had briefly attended Widespread Panic’s show on Saturday evening died after being taken into police custody shortly after leaving the concert. A police spokesperson told Fox13 News that the department suspects Goode was under the influence of “LSD or something similar”.
According to the Goode family’s attorneys, at around 9 p.m. the hospital said Goode’s condition was stable.
The recording is also from a great distance and doesn’t utilize zoom to provide a better visual record, but the witnesses noted Goode’s hogtied position while being carted face down into an ambulance on a stretcher by multiple law enforcement officers and first responders.
At least one video of the arrest exists, Edwards said.
Investigators said Goode suddenly stopped breathing.
Edwards said it’s unfathomable that Goode went to a concert with his wife and, less than two hours later, he’s dead. “I thought that was odd”.
“They are in a state of shock and are grieving”, Edwards said. “You hate to video someone at the lowest point in their life, but I’m always concerned with how police are policing”. Goode appeared to back away from the officer and was acting “erratic”, McLaughlin said.
“He just had the presence of mind that this might be important”, McLaughlin said of his son.
Meanwhile, Goode’s family has remained silent about his death.
Goode is survived by his wife and child, Kelli and Ryan. “Why he would have to be subdued so roughly, I have a lot of questions about it”.
“Nothing like that, I mean, maybe a little bit of pot”.
“Paramedics arrived on scene, and I see them put him in a four-point restraint or hogtie, I don’t know how else to describe it”, McLaughlin said.
Goode was transported to a local hospital.
‘They want to know why Troy died.’.
“To me, this whole thing screams negligence, and I hope it’s thoroughly investigated”, he explained. They start to move him toward the ambulance. Police said Goode may have been high on LSD at the time of his arrest.
