Israeli soldiers kill Palestinian in Hebron as death toll hits 118
Israeli troops have killed over 121 Palestinians in Gaza, occupied Jerusalem, West Bank and occupied Negev, the coalition said.
“Uday Jihad Irshaid, 22, was killed by live ammunition in his chest during clashes in Hebron”, a ministry statement said.
In one of the incidents on Friday, a Palestinian protester lost his life during clashes with Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).
Irshaid’s 17-year-old sister Dania was killed six weeks ago after attempting to stab security forces, according to Israeli police.
Family refuted the Israeli claims saying that their daughter had crossed two Israeli checkpoints before she was killed, which means that she would have been caught if she acquired a knife.
Almost 120 Palestinians and about 20 Israelis have been killed in the recent wave of clashes between Palestinians and Israelis since the start of October. The man was identified by the Palestinian Ministry of Health as Issa Hroub, 55, from the nearby village of Deir Samet.
Two deaths came during protests, while another man was killed after allegedly trying to ram Israeli soldiers with a vehicle.
The Israeli army said Ersheid died during a riot in which hundreds of Palestinians attacked forces by hurling stones and firebombs and rolling burning tires toward troops.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli officials said a Palestinian gunman fired at a checkpoint on the northern West Bank boundary, causing no casualties, and was then shot by guards and fled.
Sami Maadi, who was 41, died after Israeli forces used live fire on a group of protesters in the al-Bureij refugee camp.
Israel blames incitement by political and religious leaders for the violence. She said Israeli forces were looking for the defendant who fled in a van. The suspect was identified by the military as Mahmad Abd El Halim Abd El Hamid Salam.
At least 11,299 Palestinians were injured by Israeli occupation forces between October 1 and November 30, the majority during demonstrations, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Shin Bet intelligence agency said that he confessed to carrying out the assault and Salam is a part of Hamas from the West Bank village of Luban. Palestinians say the attacks stem from despair at achieving statehood.
