Carson threatens to leave GOP

Trump, though he has that he would not run as a third-party candidate in 2016, has recently hinted at other alternatives to the GOP, ever since Republicans condemned his recent calls to ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
The retired neurosurgeon had led polls of Republican voters, but support has slumped in recent weeks as Carson has struggled to offer details of his foreign policy vision.
The GOP congressman for northeast Wisconsin says there’s no way he would support Donald Trump if he’s the party’s presidential nominee.
He cited a report in the Washington Post that said Republican leaders were preparing for a brokered convention to pick their 2016 White House candidate. “As a result, none of the candidates is able to win the nomination on the first ballot, a rare event in modern political history that forces delegates and party elite to engage in convention-floor jockeying for votes and multiple rounds of balloting to reach a nomination”.
Next summer could find the first brokered convention in four decades.
For months, Trump has been atop most national polls in the race for the Republican nomination.

Carson reiterated his pledge not to run against the Republican nominee during an appearance on Fox News’ Your World with Neil Cavuto later Friday, saying “I would never do that”. “If the victor isn’t our nominee then we have a massive problem”.
Scott Furlong, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, says, “A Republican that is more establishment-oriented, the ones that are more likely to vote in our primary, they may take Congressman Ribble’s perspective into account”.
