UFC 194 Preview: Jose Aldo And Conor McGregor Promises Major Battle Ahead
Aldo has been in so many high-level striking battles. McGregor’s star power swelled.
On the physical front, Aldo and McGregor are an interesting clash of styles.
“I don’t care what he has to say”, Aldo said. I’m not just going to beat Jose.
Aldo, however, is not too bothered about what McGregor thinks about him.
McGregor was fuming with the champ’s decision to withdraw from the fight and claimed the Brazilian pulled out of the contest because he was scared to face him.
The stakes are high in this fight are huge. Dana White seems to get a buzz from McGregor, who could dethrone the champion after 10 years.
If it happens again at UFC 194, neither Weidman nor Rockhold will be surprised.
All other fighters on the card also weighed-in within the limits, including Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold who will also fight for the UFC Middleweight championship in the co-main event. He then collected four consecutive knockout victories to arrive at UFC 194 with a polished resume and unrivaled confidence that he refers to as “being bulletproof”.
“This fight will be decided by the four-minute mark of the first round”.
“They’ll always be out there”, McGregor said nonchalantly.
“I simply see victory”, added McGregor. I kind of smiled watching that because I’m like Rocky III in that I have the big houses, I have the cars, I have the robots bringing me coffee every morning. However, due to the vast capacities of both, each will be cautious not to commit a mistake and so this fight will most likely go the distance.
“It’s over, dude. I’m the new champion”, Rockhold said. His resume includes wins against the very best featherweight fighters of this generation. The record pay per view buys was 1.5 million for UFC 100 in July 2009.
The fighting pride of Dublin, Ireland laughed, clearly at ease as the biggest fight of his life against Jose Aldo approached. Who gained the upper hand was the subject of heated debate, but Aldo clearly reacted first taking up the crouched, wide karate stance often adopted by McGregor when he engages in combat.
The purses for the bout, disclosed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, reveal Aldo is only garuanteed $400,000 for the fight yet can also earn a $100,000 win bonus. “The pound-for-pound number one”. He hasn’t lost a fight in 10 years. What can they say now? “He chose the right path. But there’s something to that if you choose to put yourself out there and lose, it comes back at you”.
