Miley Cyrus Hosting MTV’s 2015 VMAs
Two years ago, Miley Cyrus‘ provocative performance became the talk of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
If history has taught us anything, it’s Miley Cyrus can put on a show and surprise everyone, for better or worse, despite haters bemoaning her antics and wrongfully predicting the downfall of her career. Cyrus announced the news Monday with a playful tweet, joking that MTV won’t let her perform, so she’s taking on a different role.
She was accompanied at the 2014 ceremony by transient Jesse Helt, now 23 years old, who accepted her award for Video of the Year and read the star’s acceptance speech in a bid to raise awareness for youth homelessness.
It’s the first time the awards show has been hosted since 2013.
MTV also confirmed the news on its Twitter.
The announcement of her hosting gig comes just before MTV debuts this year’s nominations, which are set to be shared from the network on Wednesday morning.
Past VMA hosts have included Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler and Russell Brand, but we bet not one of ’em ever twerked to a seven foot high Pedobear.
The 2015 VMAs will air live from L.A.’s Microsoft Theater at 9 p.m. ET, on Sunday, August 30.
