Israel is on with its policy, kills 3 more Palestinians
Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank and Gaza on the 11th Friday of the third Palestinian “intifada” (uprising), according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Oudi Jihad Arsheed, 22, was shot dead during protests, the Palestinian health ministry said.
The Israeli military confirmed the use of live rounds but not the fatality.
In the second incident in Hebron, the army said troops fired at Palestinians who attacked them with rocks and petrol bombs after non-lethal riot-dispersal measures failed.
Separate clashes also erupted between Palestinians and Israeli forces in Kafr Kadum and Silwad. The Israeli military said troops used nonlethal means in an attempt to disperse hundreds of Palestinians trying to damage the fence before forces fired at the crowd.
On the Gaza border, a Palestinian was shot dead and 12 wounded in clashes with Israeli forces.
On Friday, Israel arrested in the central West Bank a Palestinian suspected of ramming his vehicle into a group of soldiers the previous day close to the settlement of Beit Arieh.
It said that forces present “shot the attacker, resulting in his death”, adding that no Israelis were injured in the attack. The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the assailant as Issa Hroub, 55, from the nearby village of Deir Samet. There were no Israelis injured in the attack at the Gilboa crossing near Jenin, according to ministry spokeswoman Arielle Heffez. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties.
More than half of the Palestinians killed have been alleged attackers.
Interior Minister Silvan Shalom said Israel could not contemplate compromising its security by accepting a Palestinian state that would be a threat to it.
In Gaza, 34-year-old Sami Madi was killed after an Israeli sniper shot him in the chest during clashes near Al-Bureij refugee camp in southern Gaza.
“If (Israel) wants to make us suffer by stealing and keeping the bodies of the martyrs, we will make it suffer by being patient and resilient”, he told AFP. Twelve other Palestinians were wounded.
“An Israeli soldier asked her to take the knife out of her bag, then he immediately fired gunshots into the air”, the witness said.
