Warriors’ winning streak ends
The up-and-coming Bucks improved to 10-15 with the win.
“It’s been a long road trip, [we’re] just trying to refocus as we get back at Oracle [Arena] and maybe start a new streak”.
Following Friday’s win, the Golden State Warriors are still undefeated with a record of 24-0, according to The Washington Post.
Stephen Curry stressed the importance of focusing on the big picture after the Golden State Warriors’ incredible winning streak finally came to an end.
Golden State’s interim head coach Luke Walton certainly understands that, which is why he was optimistic just after the game. They looked human last night, as they were on the sixth game of a seven game road trip.
After outscoring Golden State 30-28 in the first period, the Bucks went on a tear to take a 59-48 advantage into the half.
What made this loss so surprising was the simple fact Milwaukee was in control and led by double digits the majority of the game. The Milwaukee Bucks have defeated Steph Curry and one of the greatest teams off all-time by a 108-95 final. Neither team shot the ball well from behind the arc and both teams turned the ball over a lot.
Green was fabulous, but no Warrior was better throughout the game than Ezeli, who came off the bench bringing energy and production.
The Los Angeles Clippers also ended a head-to-head hoodoo by defeating Brooklyn for the first time in eight attempts, winning 105-100. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 28 points, but hit only two 3-pointers, which ties a season low. The Elias Sports Bureau notes that he is the youngest player in Bucks history to record a triple-double (age 21). But that is just not what the Warriors had in stock for them.
A playoff team this past spring, the Bucks offered a max contract to Greg Monroe and got Jabari Parker back following an ACL tear that ended his rookie season well short.
Monroe also added 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double, while Bogut only managed two points and six rebounds in his 22 minutes, though he did have an impressive four blocks on the night. Guards OJ Mayo and Michael-Carter Williams made their own important contributions, with Mayo hitting four 3’s en route to his 18 points, and Carter-Williams shooting 7-10 from the field along with 5 steals.
So how can the Bucks possibly beat the Warriors? Before the game, the team announced that coach Brett Brown had signed a multiyear contract extension. That bears repeating. Over the final 8:02 of a nip-and-tuck game, Golden State offered nothing but layups, contested shots in the paint and free throws.
During the Warriors’ first loss of the season, we didn’t see the resolve and poise we had seen through the previous 24 games of this season.
