Klay Thompson hopeful of shaking off ankle injury in Boston Celtics
After pasting the Indiana Pacers behind shooting guard Klay Thompson’s 39 points, the Golden State Warriors forge ahead with their 27-game winning streak and inch ever closer to the NBA’s all-time record.
Well now the Warriors will be without one half of their backcourt, as Thompson will be out against the Celtics on Friday night.
After Thursday’s practice at Emerson College, Thompson picked up a weighted tennis ball and threw a series of pitches across the width of the floor – pushing vigorously off his sprained ankle each time. However, what is not so well-known is that the Warriors are team made up of Christians, and their shared faith in Jesus has been a key ingredient in the team’s undeniable chemistry. “I want to be just like Steph (Curry) when I grow up – just a God fearing man”.
Dore, who lives in Austin, Texas, and is a public speaker who does voiceover work, said injuries are likely the only thing standing in the Warriors’ way of 72 wins.
“We”re obviously going to be cautious with it,” Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said. “We’ve seen that consistently with Brandon (Rush) and Ian (Clark) filling in for Harrison”. The Warriors have a few nights off, with back-to-back games Friday and Saturday on the road. “I’m excited to keep it going for ourselves and our team. ‘I felt like I was due for a game like that”.
Boston (13-9) has averaged 108.0 points during the five-game surge and had eight players finish in double figures in Wednesday’s 105-100 win over Chicago. The Pacers cut a 28-point fourth-quarter deficit to six in the final minute. First, the Celtics have been really good at home this season (8-4 at home, 13-9 overall). And we’re in our second year in Coach [Steve] Kerr’s system, which he always said is when you get your bearings, not just the playcalls but the principles, the fundaments of how to get our shots, how to play up-tempo, how to defend. “It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you have or don’t have, what you lack or what you have too much of”, said Curry.
That depth has the Celtics believing they can match up with Golden State, which can extend the best road start in National Basketball Association history with a 14th consecutive win.
