‘Trumbo’ leads SAG nominations in murky awards season
Then more than 100,000 active members of SAG-AFTRA will vote for the final award victor.
Nominations for the awards were announced on Wednesday, bringing a murky awards season into a bit more focus.
The SAG awards will air on TBS on January 22, 2016, which means you have roughly 50 days during which you can shriek in anguish and otherwise let your displeasure about various, obvious snubs be known.

Among SAG’s best actor nominees, Oscar front-runner Leonardo DiCaprio (“The Revenant“) will face off against Johnny Depp (“Black Mass”), Michael Fassbender (“Steve Jobs”), Eddie Redmayne (“The Danish Girl”) and “Trumbo” star Cranston.
Other nominees in the category are Mirren, Cate Blanchett (“Carol”), Brie Larson (“Room”) and Saoirse Ronan (“Brooklyn”), all of whom have been on handicappers’ lists. Bryan Cranston is nominated for best actor, Helen Mirren is vying for best supporting actress, and together with other co-stars, they are up for best cast ensemble.
Nominations for best ensemble cast went to Beasts of No Nation, a war drama about child soldiers in Africa, and Straight Outta Compton, which charts the rise of hip hop group N.W.A.
The third SAG Awards nomination is for actor Peter Dinklage-the Game of Thrones lead will be going up against notable actors like Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), and Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) for the title of best male performance in a drama series. The nominees in either film or television category are chosen by 2,200 randomly selected SAG-AFTRA members from across the United States in each panels.
The 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) nominations were announced on Wednesday (December 9).

On the small screen, the casts of “The Big Bang Theory“, “Key & Peele”, “Modern Family“, “Orange Is the New Black“, “Transparent” and “Veep” are nominated for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series.
