Holiday parade kicks off at 3 p.m. Saturday
Every year the lineup changes, but it’s ended the same way for the last 128 years, with Santa reminding those watching it’s the season to be nice. “He will also tell his story, ‘Run, run as fast as you can, ‘” she said with a laugh.
“She was born hearing but over the years her hearing has all but disappeared”.
Mum Hayley added: “Obviously it’s fantastic that Santa knew she was deaf”.
Children and pets-that aren’t on Santa’s naughty list-will be able to share their Christmas wish lists with Santa and have their picture taken with him for free.
“As long and it’s sparkly and bright, it’s good”.
Hayley said Tilly didn’t want to go to visit Santa at first as she finds it hard to lip-read with his beard in the way.
After arriving in the parking lot by firetruck, Santa was escorted back to a room in the Country Inn & Suites conference center where the line to meet him already had formed. “I was bubbling up as I filmed it”.
“It truly is the most wonderful time of the year”, said parade-goer Mary Whitaker.
Tilly, a pupil at High Spen Primary School, has been learning sign language with specially-trained tutors since losing her hearing altogether at the age of two. “This new process will ensure we provide a more seamless experience for all guests, as it drastically reduces wait time, and allows families to better enjoy their annual visit to Santa and the mall during the holiday season”. “This is extra special to me because he would truly love it”.
“I always like to see what they’ve come up with each year because they go all out. She thinks Santa is brilliant”.
Next, the crowd will be invited inside the AUD for cookies, donuts, hot chocolate and visits with Santa in an event organized by the Richmond Recreation Department.
“The Port Authority of NY and New Jersey is happy to announce that we have been in contact with Elf Air Traffic Control at the North Pole and have ensured that Santa Claus will have complete flight clearance for his arrival in Bayside on December 5”, said Pat Foye, Executive Director of the Port Authority of NY and New Jersey.
