Bournemouth’s Arter dedicates win to family after tragedy
Manchester United’s woeful week took another calamitous turn on Saturday as little Bournemouth beat them 2-1, earning a second fairytale win in a week against another of the giants of English football.
Howe believes the recent introduction of both Junior Stanislas and Josh King – the home side’s goalscorers against United – to Bournemouth’s starting line-up has added an extra dimension to his team’s attack.
Arter was close to tears when booked for a fulsome challenge, with Cherries boss Howe embracing his combative star on the final whistle.
Speaking about Arter’s condition before the game, Howe said, “It’s been a hugely emotional week for him”.
“He showed real strength, and I have to say his team mates rallied round him too”.
“There were some emotional scenes in the dressing room afterwards. The pain won’t go away but our thoughts are with him and his family”. “I want to pay tribute to him and his family for how courageous he was in his performance, he was absolutely magnificent”. “I had to make an assessment of him, but there was no doubt once I’d spoken to him that I was going to play him today”.
Who was Manchester United’s worst player against Bournemouth?
“The players had done everything, but Bournemouth pressed on the ball in a fantastic way, which made it hard to get the equaliser or create chances”.

Arter then went on to put in a fine performance as Eddie Howe’s men followed up a win at champions Chelsea with success against the Red Devils. “Things like that help you so much and for that time and that 90 minutes when I was on the pitch, it was a really good feeling”.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace drew level on points with fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur, who host Newcastle United on Sunday, after Yohan Cabaye’s 38th-minute tap-in earned them a 1-0 home win over Southampton.
“The spell of games starting at Swansea then Everton, no one would have given us a chance of gaining many points, so to get the return we have has given us a huge lift”.
“Also against Wolfsburg it was already the reason why we lost, so it’s a very strong lesson for us”.
“I have been injured in every single area of my body.” he said.
“Of course it’s disappointing if you lose two matches in a row in an important week, so now we have to stay there in a position to keep fighting”, he said.
