Arsenal crock Santi Cazorla’s SEASON could be over following knee injury surgery
The 30-yr-previous Spain worldwide was injured early within the second half of Arsenal’s draw at Norwich final weekend, however remained on the pitch for the remainder of the sport.
Arsene Wenger hit out at Norwich and defender Ryan Bennett for pushing Alexis Sanchez into a camera pit, fuming: He could have killed him.
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is facing three months out of action after scans revealed he has sustained knee ligament damage.
He said: “It’s been done in the past here, I know, but that is the most hard way to do it. Pick your points up against the teams in and around you in that bottom eight – that relieves the pressure when you play the Arsenals”.
Wenger said “we don’t know how long they will be out for” when discussing the injuries on Thursday, but may provide an update at his Friday morning media conference to preview Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.
Alexis Sanchez suffered a hamstring injury in that game and is set tt be out for some weeks.
Arsenal’s only win in five games in November came against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
“When Sanchez was pushed into the boards on the side of the field, that did not shock anybody”, Wenger said.
Asked if it was the specific cause of Sanchez’s injury, Wenger replied: “I don’t know”.
Assessing accusations that his mentality has been behind Arsenal’s injury troubles in recent seasons, Wenger added: “I dont like to push players who are reluctant to play in games. That’s not down to me to decide that, it’s down to the player [if] he is interested or not to join us”. He had all the medical science (saying it was okay for him) to play before the game.
Wenger said: “Yes, (it was like the Debuchy challenge)”.
Kieran Gibbs is expected to return on the bench whilst Wenger retains hope that Koscielny (hip) and Walcott (calf) will also be in contention.
“We are in December and our focus is on tomorrow’s game. The injury can come from that as well”.
‘You lose confidence in your body.
“Every injury gives you a bigger chance to be injured again”. Realistically, maybe 6. If you look across the league.
“I said: ‘Santi, are you all right?’ he said he was okay”.
