UAE Exchange waives transfer fees to Chennai flood victims
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has announced the government will distribute 2,000 tonnes of bleaching power and one crore chlorine tablets to people in rain-hit areas of the state, including Chennai, for disinfecting the affected places and purifying drinking water.
Mattresses, blankets, sanitary napkins for women and diapers for children were among the relief material being provided to inmates of camps for the flood-hit, she said, adding so far 453 tonnes of milk powder has been distributed.
The Finance Ministry today held a review meeting with public sector insurance companies including LIC and discussed ways for expeditious disposal of claims related to floods in Tamil Nadu.
