Sturgis kicks 3 field goals, Eagles beat Bills 23-20

The Eagles, however, missed a chance to put the game away at the 2-minute warning. And McCoy, an up and downer like the team he plays for, should have plenty of extra motivation when he returns to Philadelphia to face his former team in a very big game for both the Eagles (5 – 7 and still alive for a playoff spot) and the Bills. McCoy has rushed for 100 or more yards in three of his last five games.

He lost 10 yards on one play in the fourth quarter. He’ll need to continue that streak against an Eagles defense that has the third-most takeaways in the National Football League with 23. He gained only 11 yards on eight carries after halftime. He finished with a game-high 74 yards on 20 carries, but was nearly rendered a non-factor. The Eagles come into today’s game as one of the worst against opposing quarterbacks, allowing 28 touchdowns passes and three rushing TDs to QBs.

He never approached Kelly after saying last week he didn’t want to shake his hand or talk to him.

Before the game, McCoy was seen giving owner Jeffrey Lurie a hug. Then he heard his teammates yelling at him from the sideline to fall down, rather than risk getting tackled and fumbling the ball back to Buffalo. While some fans gave him a standing ovation, there was also some booing. McCoy’s first run goes for seven yards and a first down. And there was definitely some jawing going on. It was Kelly who initiated the trade of McCoy to Buffalo during the off-season in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso. But the Eagles got an interception with 1:16 to seal it.

Buffalo committed 15 penalties for 111 yards including four neutral zone infractions on defense.

The Bills responded as Sammy Watkins got behind Byron Maxwell and hauled in Tyrod Taylor’s pass for a 47-yard touchdown as safety Ed Reynolds was late coming over.

The play was set up by booming 52-yard punt by Donnie Jones, a fumble a recovery by Bryan Braman at 37-yard-line of Bills. Jason Peters left the game and Dennis Kelly had to come in at left tackle.

Bradford 53-yard touchdown pass to rookie receiver Nelson Agholor. It was Agholor’s first career touchdown.

McCoy was traded in the offseason to the Bills and following that deal, McCoy had some not-so-nice things to say about Chip Kelly. Looking to make a big play, Bradford instead took a 13-yard loss which was mitigated somewhat by a 57-yard punt to the Buffalo 18. The Redskins beat the Eagles so they hold the tiebreaker for the moment. The Buffalo Bills will defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-21.
