Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny sidelined vs Colts because of hand surgery
With three wins in his last four games and finding the Colts tied for the AFC South title, he has an opportunity to nix some of the talking with a win against an underrated opponent.
What caught our eye from the Indianapolis Colts’ 51-16 loss to the Jaguars Sunday at Jacksonville’s Everbank Field.
Just like that, next Sunday’s rematch with the Houston Texans in Lucas Oil Stadium takes on increased significance. Colts linebacker Robert Mathis recovered the ball in the end zone after it went through the hands of Bortles on a hard, high snap from center Stefen Wisniewski. “Whether it’s one big play or two big plays, we’ve got to get it going”. The game is also airing as a live stream online. Shoot, all games they can lose. While that may not translate to wins over the next three weeks, this was the performance the Jaguars needed to show themselves that they could achieve that level of play.
HASSELBECK AGAIN: Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to miss his sixth start of the season and fourth straight since lacerating a kidney and partially tearing an abdominal muscle. However, they are just two games behind the leaders Colts.
Then it gets mildly interesting. So is it really Pagano who should be on the hot seat or is it Luck? That game went poorly for the Colts, as they were torched by Antonio Brown and company for 45 points, with a final score of 10-45.
As Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star wrote earlier this week, “Now they’re 6-6”. “For us, we just stick to our game plan and our defense scored at the end of the half so the score was only 13-9”. The Jaguars are 13th in stopping the run and 26th against the pass. The Colts are 24th against the run and 30th against the pass.
That said, I would have bet everything I owned that the 2006 Colts, who weren’t one of Indy’s better teams during the Tony Dungy Era. We don’t know anything. This team is unsure when it will get Luck back. Maybe Castonzo gets back and the offensive line returns to form. “We were playing for a lot, and so were they”.
Quarterback Blake Bortles and the offense failed to sustain any success in the first half, but suddenly woke up and produced five second-half touchdowns. Robinson’s breakout season includes 65 receptions for 1,080 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Rookie running back T.J. Yeldon was seemingly the only positive on the Jaguars offense in the first half on Sunday.
The Jacksonville defense? Not good. That all changed after their NFL-record 16-game winning streak against the AFC South and six-game winning streak against the Jaguars came crashing down. This is not a gimme game, as it’s always been in the past. After shaking that off, he came back into the game, only to get this treatment.
“Everything is out there in front of us”, coach Chuck Pagano said. Every week you’ve got to go out there and prepare and I think where you start to see where it’s not so much of an issue as if it’s consistently done well and that’s what we need to work on.
