Ted Cruz Continues to Gain Momentum in 2016 Race, Polls Find
And a released Saturday shows Trump trailing by even wider margins in Iowa: According to the survey by the Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics, Cruz weighed in with 31 percent of likely caucus participant support. “I don’t see his numbers going down, I see them going up”. “Do you know how to use the people around you?”
Nine Republicans hopefuls meet Tuesday in the next prime-time presidential debate, with a familiar slate of candidates looking to wrangle over what to do about the threat of terrorism and who has the right temperament and judgment to lead the nation.
“One of the explanations I’m sitting right here and one of many causes I’m so excessive in the polls is as a result of it began with the borders”, Trump informed CNN.
When the school bully starts glowering in your direction, the worst thing you can do is hold up your hands and say, “Please don’t hit me”.
“I don’t assume he’s certified to be president”, Trump stated on “Fox News Sunday”.
His message to the Republican establishment: “I’m sorry I did this to you, but you’ve got to get used to it. It’s one of the problems in life”. And, tonally, Cruz comes across as aggressively and unapologetically conservative – a less controversial and more electable version of real estate magnate Trump. “In fact, I was criticized in the beginning because I get along with Democrats and liberals and Republicans, and conservatives – I get along with everybody”. I have some of the greatest assets anywhere in the world. “Having a strong temperament is good”, Trump told CNN when he was asked about House speaker Paul Ryan’s comments claiming his anti-Muslim comments could “ruin the party”. Last week, when Trump called on the federal government to bar Muslims from entering the United States, Cruz refused to join the chorus of condemnation.
“No, I don’t think he does”, Trump replied.
“We have more work to do”, Bryan English, the director of Cruz’s Iowa campaign, said in a statement.
A Monmouth University out Monday showed Cruz with 24 percent of support among likely Republican caucus-goers in Iowa, 5 points ahead of Trump’s 19 percent.
“We’re doing really well with the evangelicals”, Trump told the crowd. But, as with a lot of the attacks Trump has leveled on his opponents in the past, there’s a grain of truth in his criticisms that he will, by constant repetition, try to force into the minds of Cruz supporters.
In other states, Trump still wields considerable support and the fear he might win the GOP nomination still persists.
Clearly, Donald Trump has maintained his stranglehold on the media and certain swaths of the American population since he arrived, all bombast and swagger, on the 2016 election scene back in June.
“He’s been so nice to me”.
