Pricing Released for the 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid
In 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid LT, the company has added 3.6 inches to wheelbase and 2.3 inches in length compared to previous variant.
A 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides the juice, and stores power that can be sourced from regenerative braking. “The 2.0 liter turbo dips to 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined, while the hybrid is expected to deliver a healthy 48 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway, and 47 mpg combined”.
This Malibu model isn’t like the ones before it. Chevrolet has completely redesigned its signature vehicle, so the 2016 version is going to be unlike any Malibu you’ve ever seen. The gas-only 2016 Malibu was found to be, “at least good again”, so the 2016 Malibu Hybrid should be able to attract those who want a competent midsize sedan with excellent fuel economy that awaits EPA verification.
General Motors (NYSE:GM) has priced the 2016 Chevy Malibu at $28.645.
Chevrolet has said they are broadening their level of expertise in order to bring some truly great hybrid models to market, one of which is the 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid LT. This model is due to be released in spring 2016 and has borrowed some of the technology learned from the second-generation Volt.
With the new conventional hybrid drivetrain, the new Malibu is a departure for GM away from previous Chevrolet and Buick hybrid “E-Assist” sedans, which were unable to fully move the auto under electric-only power.
In comparison, Chevrolet estimates that the 2016 Malibu Hybrid will earn 48/45/47 mpg city/highway/combined.
“The Malibu leverages knowledge and technology directly from the second-generation Chevrolet Volt”. Official EPA estimates are pending. The new hybrid tech uses a modified drive unit and electric motors right out of the Volt. CarPlay and Android Auto are products of Apple and Google and their terms, data plan rates and privacy statements apply and require a compatible smartphone. Included on the Malibu Hybrid is Chevrolet MyLink radio with a 7-inch touchscreen, 10 airbags, push-button start, and cruise control. The system is paired with a 1.8-liter direct-injected Ecotec engine, optimized specifically for a hybrid configuration. It also comes with the Teen Driver feature, which allows parents to “police” how their teenage children drive the Malibu.
