Raiders at Broncos: Full highlights and final score
“It culminated in a loss”.
Long snapper Jon Condo banged up his shoulder moments before, when he recovered a fumble by punt returner Emmanuel Sanders. With Condo temporarily unavailable while getting the injury checked out, the Raiders couldn’t kick the PAT and had to go for a two-point conversion.
The Raiders survived despite missing a field goal and trading punts the rest of the way. The drive stalled, and Oakland ran out the final moments.
The Broncos, now 10-3, are still in the conversation for home-field advantage in the AFC, but with an injury report coach Gary Kubiak said was unlike any other he had seen, the Broncos are not trending in the right direction. “We played great defense and just didn’t ever finish the game offensively or put ourselves in a position to finish them”. They netted minus-12 yards of offense in the first half, the fewest for a half since the data started being tracked in 1991, according to STATS.
Oakland Raiders receiver Amari Cooper. “It was very, very important for us to come down and keep that energy I was talking about at halftime, keep that energy for our team”. Meanwhile, Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler completed 35-of-51 attempts for 308 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions as Denver ate up yards between the 20s before stumbling repeatedly.
At 11-5, Kansas would own the divisional tiebreaker over Denver if the Broncos lose three of four.
The Raiders showed signs of life on the first drive of the second half, when they got out of negative yardage and on to the scoreboard with a touchdown catch by Seth Roberts, who made a sliding grab for the team’s first score.
It’s hard to say what kind of game quarterback Derek Carr is in for as he heads to Denver to take on the Broncos this week.
Peters picked off a pass from Raiders’ second-year quarterback Derek Carr, with the score tied at 20 and just over eight minutes left in the game. Denver sacked Philip Rivers four times and scored a defensive touchdown, marking the third straight game the Broncos have caused a turnover. “I have to find a way to get our offense into the end zone and scoring points”. After Thomas’ 17-yard reception gave the Broncos a 1st-and-goal at the 2, Osweiler overthrew an open Virgil Green in the end zone.
Woodson needs one defensive touchdown to pass Rod Woodson and Darren Sharper for the NFL’s all-time record.
Side Bar: I swear sometimes I feel that the only reason Reggie McKenzie didn’t go out and get the Raiders some new blood in the secondary was becaseu this would be the only way for D.J. Hayden to be able to get any type of game time. He’s 80 yards shy of becoming the first 1,000-yard receiver for the Raiders since Randy Moss in 2005. The Raiders are still mathematically alive in the postseason race but are a long shot due to losing four of their last five affairs.
The momentum kept coming the Raiders’ way, and the special teams were involved again when Oakland pulled ahead early in the fourth quarter.
