Navy’s Keenan Reynolds Sets Division I Career Rushing TD Record
Navy trailed at the break for the first time in the series since being behind 3-0 in 2009.
Series historyBecause of the Midshipmen’s recent stretch, they now have a 60-49-7 record all-time against the Black Knights.
Freshman Chris Carter took the field at quarterback in his second career start for Army after playing well against Rutgers in his last outing. On Army’s next drive, Carter fumbled away the snap at the Navy 33-yard line. Army is 2-9 on the season, 4-6-1 against the spread and 7-4 with the under. He rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
Army held a 17-14 lead at halftime.
Reynolds became the first Navy quarterback to rush and pass for 1,000 yards in a season twice in a career, and his 30 career touchdown passes are also a Navy record – eclipsing Bill Byrne, who threw 29 in 1984-86.
Reynolds set a new NCAA Division I career record for career rushing touchdowns with 85, breaking the record of 84 set by Georgia Southern’s Adrian Peterson in 2006. He displayed his arm strength throwing for 113 yards and the winning touchdown in the second half. What I like about the Army-Navy game is that it comes down to toughness and grind.
Get ready for the big rivalry game today between Army and Navy.
The defenses continued to set the tone in the second half as a third down sack by D.J.
Reynolds picked up 166 total yards in the first half.

Navy was favored by 22 points before the game started, which goes to show you never know what to expect when fierce rivals like Army and Navy go at it.
Navy’s run of dominance have been littered with blowouts, but this year the game was not decided until the Hail Mary thrown by Army senior tight end Kelvin White hit the turf in Army’s end zone on the game’s last play. After a 35 yard pass that got them in Navy territory, Army tried to pull out the double pass only to have it intercepted by Daiquan Thomasson for their third turnover in as many drives. In the end, Navy and the Midshipmen sang second, sending Army home for another long, dark bus ride to West Point.
The college football regular season officially ended Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia with the Navy Midshipmen defeating the Army Black Knights, 21-17, to win for the 14th straight year in the classic rivalry.
Only 48 hours after informing the team of his intention to meet with Brigham Young officials Monday regarding the school’s vacant coaching position, Niumatalolo joined his charges in celebrating a 14th straight win against Army, 21-17, extending the series-record streak and delivering the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy back to Annapolis.
