Planned Parenthood files federal lawsuit against OH health department
Stephanie Kight, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, has denied all wrongdoing, releasing a statement on Friday in which she claims that the women’s health organization handles fetal tissue legally and in the same manner as other healthcare providers. DeWine launched the investigation to determine whether the facilities were selling fetal tissue, or abortion trafficking, in violation of OH law. He said that Planned Parenthood violated Ohio’s Administrative Code, which states that a “fetus shall be disposed of in a humane manner”. “We work with licensed medical removal companies to handle fetal tissue respectfully and safely”.
The third Planned Parenthood clinic, in Bedford Heights, turned over remains of aborted fetuses to Illinois-based Stericycle, which then either incinerated the remains or sent them to a landfill, DeWine said Friday.
This is a reference to Fiorina’s repeated use of the phrase “baby parts” – which many would consider a willful mischaracterization of what fetal tissue even is – and reports that the shooter himself made comments about “baby parts” to the police when he was arrested, and that he said in court he was a “warrior for the babies”.
Those claims were debunked, but DeWine said the investigation found that human fetal remains from Planned Parenthood were being discarded of in landfills.
Citing police and eyewitnesses, Kogut said the “disturbing” and “outrageous” act of vandalism appeared to be related to the prevention and abortion services Planned Parenthood provides.
Though the investigation didn’t find any indication that fetal tissue was being sold by Planned Parenthood affiliates in OH, the investigation did reveal that that aborted baby parts from Planned Parenthood facilities are being disposed of in a number of landfills. Employees say at around 8:45 am a woman showed up at the location took rocks from the buildings landscaping and threw them at the windows breaking them all.
“This sudden and targeted treatment is no doubt motivated by his animus to a woman’s right to safe and legal abortion and to Planned Parenthood in particular”, the attorneys wrote.
The issue will now be addressed by the Ohio Board of Public Health.
Attorney General DeWine referred his investigative findings to the Ohio Department of Health for further action.
