United heads to Denmark, Klopp returns to Germany in Europa draw

BT Sport will show a Europa League last-32 draw live stream on Monday as Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham discover their opponents for the knock-out stages.

The first legs of the ties are set to be played on February 18 or 25 with the return matches on March 10 or 17.

Spurs have been in this competition for the last four years and recorded their best finish in 2012/13 when they made the quarter-finals, but were dumped out of the competition by this season’s final hosts FC Basel over two legs.

First of all there are the obvious logistical issues.

Premier League rivals Liverpool will face German outfit Augsburg while Tottenham were paired with Italians Fiorentina.

United have won the European Cup, Champions League and the now-defunct European Cup-Winners’ Cup, but never lifted the Europa League or its predecessors, the Uefa Cup and Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

I’m sure United and Liverpool will be very satisfied with their draws and confident of progressing to the last 16 but it was a bit of a nightmare for Spurs as Fiorentina are going to be a hard side to beat over two legs. This is risky as it is incredibly hard for United teams to motivate themselves for the competition.
