Planned Parenthood Sues In Dispute Over Fetal Tissue
Planned Parenthood has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court aimed at protecting access to safe and legal abortions for women in OH, according to a statement released by the organization on Sunday. Cuomo asked Fiorina. “Because of what the man said, which seems as though he was influenced by some of the rhetoric that was coming out of you and others that painted a very ugly picture and an unfair one, about Planned Parenthood?” DeWine launched the investigation to determine whether the facilities were selling fetal tissue, or abortion trafficking, in violation of OH law. “We work with licensed medical removal companies to handle fetal tissue respectfully and safely”. The investigation did not find that fetal tissue or aborted baby parts were being sold by Planned Parenthood affiliates in Ohio.
It’s not clear if the clinics broke any OH laws concerning the disposal of fetal remains.
Furthermore, the Planned Parenthood affiliate investigated in Bedford Heights, Ohio stated that it used a specific company for disposal.
OH is the second state to have found evidence of the women’s health clinic disposing aborted fetal tissue in landfills.
Last week Dewine said the agency’s contractors were disposing of human fetal tissue in landfills. “It is important the public be aware that these practices are taking place at these OH facilities”.
“Politicians in Ohio will stop at nothing to ban abortion in all cases in our state”, said Stephanie Knight, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.
This is a reference to Fiorina’s repeated use of the phrase “baby parts” – which many would consider a willful mischaracterization of what fetal tissue even is – and reports that the shooter himself made comments about “baby parts” to the police when he was arrested, and that he said in court he was a “warrior for the babies”.
A sign is pictured at the entrance to a Planned Parenthood building in New York August 31, 2015. In her opinion, the investigation is “highly motivated by a political agenda that both the governor and attorney general are pushing right now in OH”. “Every healthcare provider follows these laws, every surgery center, every hospital”, she said. It went on to say that there’s an “increased concern over the sensitivity of abortion-related records”, particularly after a November fatal shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood.
