UCL last-16 draw: Arsenal v Barcelona, PSG v Chelsea
ARSENAL and Chelsea were handed hard ties in the Champions League last-16 draw, although Manchester City will be delighted with their good fortune.
The Premier League leaders will face La Liga’s pace-setters in a repeat of the 2006 final Paris, which Barcelona won 2-1 against 10-man Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will renew hostilities for the third straight year with PSG, who were arguably the toughest team they could have faced in the last 16.
No. BT Sport is the exclusive home of the Champions League in the United Kingdom and the only place to watch every last-16 game.
Arsenal will face Barcelona, Chelsea meets PSG and the stage has been set for a clash between Manchester City and Dynamo Kiev.
The second round kicks off in February.
Barcelona now sit top of La Liga in Spain and topped their Champions League group with a record of four wins and two draws. “I’m not sure league form comes into it. They said about us just before the Porto game that our form was bad but we saw the quality and they came through against them no problem at all”.
“We’ve got world class players and it will be two fantastic games that we are looking forward to”, he added.
“We might have hoped to be luckier in this draw but I like our team in Europe so far”, Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved said.
Louis van Gaal has promised to take the competition seriously and the Red Devils have been drawn to play Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in the first knockout round.
Instead City got Dynamo Kiev, where the away leg will be played behind closed doors due to UEFA racism sanctions.
The first legs will be played on February 16-17 and 23-24, with the second legs scheduled for March 8-9 and 15-16.
