City director wary of Dynamo Kiev
Manchester City’s Champions League away leg against Dynamo Kiev will be played behind closed doors.
Having been paired with and knocked out by Begiristain’s former club Barcelona at the same stage in each of the last two seasons, City’s progression as Group D winners this time around has granted them a comparatively more favourable draw.
“It’s never easy”, said City’s director of football. Right now our chances are even. If we are physically ready we can progress.
The 2013-14 Premier League champions, who are playing in the Champions League for the fifth season, have had both of their forays into the knockout phase ended at the first hurdle by Barca after finishing as runners-up in their group.
“City are a strong team with great players, but we need to go out and perform against them”, Sukris told UEFA.com.
But Surkis believes that if his side are well prepared and are “physically ready” to counter the Manchester City threat then there is absolutely no reason why they can not progress through to the quarter-final stage of the tournament.
First legs will take place on February 16-17 and February 23-24.
“They will play football and it’s 11 v 11”. They will want to show people they’re strong, that they are fighting for something.
“We are getting experience, which is important”.
