Amarillo Gas Prices Rise 5 Cents; Average $1.75/g

“We are going to end this year with the lowest gas prices since 2008, and people want to know can it get even lower?”

The cheapest gasoline in the Houston region is as low as $1.53 a gallon in Texas City, while prices jump as high as $2.69 a gallon at an Exxon station on Westheimer Road near the River Oaks area. For the week, crude oil prices fell 4.4 percent on the New York Mercantile Exchange, closing Friday at $35.62.

Average retail gasoline prices in the Commonwealth have not moved in the past week, averaging $1.88 a gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 2,623 gas outlets in Kentucky.

While about a dozen Palm Beach County stations are selling gasoline below $2 a gallon, the county’s average is $2.21, down from $2.25 a week ago and $2.74 a year ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. It is down almost 10 percent since this time previous year.
