Cancelled Star Wars 1313 “not being thrown away”
Continuing my coverage from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens junket, today I bring you Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy, who helps to explain how the Star Wars anthology movies (i.e., the “A Star Wars Story” films) will be different from the Star Wars Saga movies.
According to Kennedy, “We don’t want to throw any of that stuff away”. The company feels the material for both projects is “gold” as they continue to look them over and discuss how they might develop Underworld and 1313 more.
“That was made locally, so it was one to two months in the making, but of course, with the guidance of Disney because we want to stay true to the actual design of the X-wing fighter”, said Ria Canteras of SM Lifestyle Entertainment.
Star Wars 1313 was set to be third-person action shooter based around the exploits of a young Boba Fett, as he explored the corrupt underbelly of Coroscant, on the titular Level 1313.
So, an expensive Star Wars video game targeting only adults doesn’t sound appealing to investors, or to parents.
On the other hand, Star Wars projects like the Star Wars: Underworld live-action series and the Star Wars 1313 game from Lucasarts got the axe.
Sciretta then mentioned that glorious 1313 concept art (a piece of which you can see up top) before Kennedy responded thusly… It was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2005 as a “darker” and “grittier” take on the universe, back when “dark” and “gritty” weren’t eye-rolling cliches.
The trail, opening in the Forest of Dean from December 16, is designed for film fans to follow in the footsteps of their favourite characters from films, such as Star Wars, that have been filmed in the Forest of Dean.
The former head of Lucasfilm had been working on a series, said to be called, “Star Wars: Underworld” for many years.
“No, no. It just so happens to be Rogue One is the precursor to New Hope and yes, this Han Solo idea but I would not argue that we are setting up any kind of prequel notion with these standalone movies”. People love the recently released Star Wars Battlefront, and are excited for the upcoming Star Wars game which will be overseen by former former Uncharted director-writer Amy Hennig.
