Windows 10 updates will be mandatory for home users

The company said in a blog post that they would be making this move in order to bring some of the content that is found on the Xbox Live space to Windows 10 PC’s and tablets.

Windows 10 won’t be out for the public until the end of the month, but those using the current preview build can now enjoy game streaming from the Xbox One to their Windows 10 PCs. With this update, all that users will need to do is run the latest version of Windows 10 and ensure all Xbox updates have been installed.

In Windows 10, the Start Menu will feel like a smart combination of both Windows 7 and Windows 8; not only will it show a list of most used apps, but give you quick access to important features. The new My Games section, for example, will automatically discover not just Windows Store games but also older PC games installed outside of Windows Store. To put it simply, the new set up will make it easier for the gamers to connect with their kind and enjoy their game.

Microsoft today over on the Major Nelson website has detailed the features that you can expect to enjoy on the Xbox One, when their latest Windows 10 operating system launches in just a few days time. I imagine the streaming between PC and Xbox One games will be enticing for people who want to play games where they had trouble running to spec on the Xbox One, like Dead Rising 3 or games like Project CARS. Additionally, for the Xbox One you can enable the streaming by heading into the settings, going to preferences and then enabling the option to stream to other devices.

We’re pretty sure that there are many users who can’t wait to get their hands on the new Windows 10, but they don’t have enough patience to wait until August 30, when the platform will be available worldwide. That takes care of things on the Xbox One side of the equation.

The service will not be restricted to Windows 10, as it will work on Android and iOS-powered devices, following Microsoft’s new policy to make its own apps available across multiple operating systems.
