Ted Cruz To Donald Trump
Ben Carson was at 9%, down 9 points from October, and all other candidates were in the low single digits. Or, better, in the empty flats of Texas, since the candidate over whom he looms is Ted Cruz.
Both NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America covered Cruz’s surge in the polls as well, however those morning shows refrained from attacking the Texas senator’s conservatism.
“The tie at the top of the Iowa Republican Caucus reflects a change in priorities among voters”. “Not a lot come out. And so they are just piggybacking on that, I think, as a way for Trump to maybe score some points with the Republican establishment”.
Trump was quick to jump on the news of the audio tape. There’s a group of people who are very sick. “He has an easier lift”, Robinson says.
A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Trump in the lead with 27 percent among Republicans nationally, and other polls give him similar leads in many state contests for the party’s presidential nomination. In a CNN/ORC poll also released last week, Trump help a commanding lead in Iowa up 13 points over Cruz. Losing in either the Iowa caucus or New Hampshire primary certainly does not doom a candidate, nor does victory assure more of the same later. Ted Cruz in second at 14. Thirty-nine percent would prefer a government outsider while 30 percent would prefer a senator and 19 percent a governor.
Indeed, Trump was relatively reserved in his criticism, repeatedly telling the crowd he liked Cruz.
While almost 2-in-3 (65%) voters overall agree that Trump has the temperament to take on the role of president, there are significant differences in this view among the GOP electorate. Summing up its findings, the newspaper said it found Cruz was stronger than his closest competitors on qualities including have the “right temperament”. “Will be easy!” An attempt by Cruz to salvage the relationship by calling Trump “terrific” appears to have fallen on deaf ears. “That’s the problem with Ted”, Trump said.
Trump also took aim at Cruz’s ties to big oil and his refusal to back ethanol subsidies, an important issue to Iowa voters, as ethanol production is responsible for thousands of jobs in the state.
Trump, a Republican presidential candidate, said his rival Cruz would “never get anything done” because he can’t get along with people.
“I don’t think he is qualified to be president”, Trump said on “Fox News Sunday”.
Clinton was able to beat Trump in a head-to-head thanks to strong support from independents and Hispanics.
So now the race is on for Iowa’s evangelicals, and the strategy for beating Trump has never been clearer: Start praying. “We’re doing so well”.
