SAG nominations that were most likely unexpected for many include Sarah Silverman receiving a nomination for best actress for the film “I Smile Back” and Michael Shannon receiving a best supporting actor nomination for the movie “99 Homes“.

British period drama “Downton Abbey“, political thriller “House of Cards” and advertising drama “Mad Men” were also nominated for best drama ensemble cast.

Longtime Palisades resident Bill Murray is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Mini-series or Television Movie for his Netflix special “A Very Murray Christmas“. Over the past three years, 11 of 12 SAG winners proceeded to win the Academy Award (Tommy Lee Jones in Lincoln is the only miss.) All three ensemble cast winners later claimed the best pitcure Oscar.
