Giants’ poor pass defense will test Miami commitment to run
On Monday Night Football, the Miami Dolphins host the New York Giants in an AFC vs NFC battle in the National Football League. Jay Ajayi has stolen some carries, but the Dolphins are looking to establish the run again and that could make a Miller a worthy START pick for the game against the Giants.
The New York Giants rank last in the National Football League in pass defense, which will tempt the Miami Dolphins to revert to their old ways Monday night. If you aren’t in front of a television, you can watch the game on WatchESPN.
Although the Miami Dolphins are still technically in the Playoff picture still, their realistic chances of making the postseason are slim to none.
The Dolphins are 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in their last six MNF games.
Reeling in the wake of a three-game skid, Big Blue travel to Miami to face the Dolphins in a battle of 5-7 teams with fading playoff hopes.
Both of these teams have been incredibly hard to predict. There’s nothing to say that the Giants won’t figure a way to mess this one up too, but they usually find a way to win when it’s not expected of them.
Coming into Week 14 there was a three way tie at the top of the division, and with the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles winning on Sunday, the Giants now know they must win to keep pace with the pack at the top. The Dallas Cowboys probably had their season ended yesterday, losing to the Green Bay Packers and falling to 4-9 on the season. Tonight, they must stick with the run, even if they don’t have early success.
If the Giants-Vikings game moves to prime time, the Colts-Dolphins matchup that day switches from CBS to Fox.
Bob Baumhower, Tony Nathan and Dwight Stephenson spent six seasons as teammates on the Dolphins, and they’re reunited on the 50 anniversary team. Yet, rather than comfortably leading an NFC East that begged them to take control for most of the season, the Giants are barely hanging on. Miami now heads into the game as a one-point favorite.
WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) remains unlikely to play Monday against the New York Giants. Mercury Morris rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown, while Jim Kiick added 61 yards rushing and Larry Csonka chipped in with 30 more. Two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning is having a solid season in his second year under offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, and has thrown 24 touchdowns to 10 interceptions on the season. To fill his role, the Giants signed Danny Aiken, who played from 2011-2014 in New England. Josh Brown also missed a 48 yard field goal in overtime to complete the devastating loss.
Of course, though the Giants haven’t played well, this game could be their season.
Landry continued: “I was trying to get them to rally around me, rally around the passing, the energy”. You can all disagree. Their QB had one of the most sluggish games of the year, converting on 41.2% of his passes. “You just have to go out there and play some great football”.
