Tina Fey wants what for Christmas?!
Now we finally know who hurled the “C-word” at Tina Fey – Colin Quinn.
Don’t miss Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returning to Studio 8H to host this week’s Saturday Night Live, featuring musical guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
The comedic actress revealed Monday that her former “Saturday Night Live” cohort hurled the vicious verbiage her way years ago after she tried to help him with a show he was working on – but she swears the bitter feud has long since ended. She called the incident “very random” and said she was confused when she heard the message.
Their routine – this time Poehler is Ernie to Fey’s Eric – feels so well honed I suspect their amusing bones are a DNA match.
“I was like a high-functioning nerd [in high school]”, Fey revealed, adding that her teenage hobbies included editing the school newspaper and singing in the choir.
“I think where you get in trouble is when people are theorising something in a boardroom saying “what I think people want to see is blah blah blah” but when you put it in front of an audience, an audience will laugh at whatever’s amusing”.
What would they have said if they knew what a success she’d turn out to be? We can only hope Fey had the presence of mind to quote Designing Women when dressing Quinn down.
Tina even wrote a 30 Rock episode called “The C Word” in which her character Liz Lemon is criticized for being too hard on her staff. “I asked Colin to be on 30 Rock like three times after that, and he turned us down every time”, she told Stern. I would just say “things won’t hurt forever”.
“We have since reconnected at the SNL 40th actually, and we are good”, she said. She said that she even asked Quinn to come on 30 Rock, but he refused.
